    Weak signal on 3G

    Hi,

I’ve powered up my Pre 3 once again. Thought I’m having problems with 3G network. On 2G I have 5 bars (max, the same on Nokia N900). Though if I switch to 3G, I have 2 bars. On N900 - 5 bars (max). I’m living in a voivoidship capital, so the signal is really strong.

Some info that might be important:
I didn’t want to waste mobile internet transfer for activation, so entered devmode, installed impostah, removed the skipped first use webos account, reset palm profile, activated with wifi. Phone app has a no-animation upper left corner menu. It worked similar when there was Advanced System Phone installed. (Though reinstalled with webos doctor)

Any ideas why this is happening?

    Thx

hp Pre3 cannot be started or recovered

About 3 days ago my Pre 3, which has worked perfectly since September 2011, suddenly started shutting down at random. It will not now restart at all. I have tried the 6 ways to recover given in the manual and the recovery methods using webOS Doctor in http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/How_To_Recover

The Pre3 is not recognised by my MacBook when I plug in the USB cable, nor is it recognised by webOS Doctor. I have tried using another fully charged battery but that makes no difference. The handset appears, for all intents and purposes, to be totally dead.

Is there anything else I can do or is there somewhere I can send it for repair (I am in the UK)? Many thanks.

Problems charging the Veer with external battery pack

I bought one of those external battery packs that lets you charge things via USB with the intent of using it for my Veer, since the battery only lasts about 7 hours and that’s not enough for the whole day. However, I can’t make the Veer charge off it.

When the battery is dead and I connect it to the external pack, it gives it the 2% it needs to start it up again. If I then leave the pack connected, the battery level stays at 2%, but doesn’t charge more (which isn’t ideal given the propensity of that magnetic charge cable to detach in my pocket). (It doesn’t charge if I just connect it to the pack while it’s already on, either.) The pack’s output is 500mA, I know this isn’t enough for a Touchpad but I thought it would be enough for a Veer. Is that just not enough current to charge my Veer?

I read in a thread about car chargers that on some chargers you have to short the two data pins in the USB port, would that be something that makes a difference in this case?

HELP! do i have to redoctor??

here’s what i did THIS time:

i bought another Pre2, as a backup in case i drop the one I’m using.

Of course, i had to activate it to get this app catalog certificate updated before next week.
So I pulled the comm board from my current FrankenPre2 (on sprint), put it in the new Pre2, ran the appropriate GSM unlocked meta-doctor, and used it for the day. It works fine, ok great.

So I pulled the comm board out, put it into its original Pre-, ran the OEM Dr., activated and used the Update Network Settings and update PRL, to confirm the board was current. Activated fine, Pre- still works fine.

Then I pulled the comm board out, and put it back into the FrankenPre2 which had been in airplane mode since I removed it. I expected to just plug back in and be up and running.

which it is…SORTA. AND HERE’S WHAT I NEED HELP ON:

It doesn’t say "Sprint" as the carrier in top left.

I’ve got full bars and EV icon.

I can make calls, I can get on the web, i’m using free tether right now to type this on my PC.
##(myMSL) shows the correct phone number and msid. All the data looks right in ##786 and ##DATA

I’ve logged into my Palm profile thru the Backup app no problem. It backed up too.
I’ve gone into Impostah and completed the Activation successfully. It shows device profile, it shows palm profile. The app cat has pay items and has my card info.

but somehow the phone doesn’t know it’s connected. So when i make a call and then hang up, it displays the "call dropped" message.

DO I HAVE TO RUN THE METADOCTOR AGAIN, and lose all my apps and patches i’ve installed? or is there a way to make the phone realize duh, the phone IS working and connected to the Sprint network??

cloud restore without clearing device ?

    Hi,
I own two Pre+, one for daily use and one for spare.
I accidentally deleted parts of my tasks-list and I want to get this back.
As save/restore doesn’t seem to cover the internal apps, I’ll have to restore from the cloud.
As my first Pre+ is full of apps, some of them no longer to obtain, I really don’t want to clear/doctor him again.:shake:

I see two ways to do it:

    1) I setup my spare Pre+ as a complete clone of my first Pre+. I allready tried with impostah’s "overwrite device profile", but my reset was to deep, so the overwrite was gone when the device powered up.
Is there a way to make a twin Pre+ out of my spare one to make the cloud restore on him ?

    2) I also could make my first Pre+ to tell the cloud, that we’re on "recovery boot", so the cloud will give my data back to me…. Can this be done ?

Pre 2 just WILL NOT sync w/ Facebook…

I just got my Pre 2 about a week ago and its running OS 2.2.4 and I’ve got it on Net10 GSM unlimited. No matter how hard I try it just WILL NOT sync with Facebook for my contacts. I’ve not really found an answer to this issue elsewhere on the internet. Perhaps I’m not looking hard enough or in the right places. So I’ve decided to ponder here as to whether anyone else is having this issue and if they were able to fix it and how. Perhaps downgrading would help? I’m really not sure. I remember my Pre+ on Verizon did not have this issue. Also, has anyone ever been able to get the GPS to work on this thing?!

    Thanks.

it made me smile n remind me how much beautiful the pixi was …though i have already moved on to android but thought to share this , MAN the pixi was awessome only if it had better hardware specs
